Dog Health question/ reverse sneezing etc.?

I just adopted a two year old standard sized doxie and he seems to have come to reverse sneezing 13 times a day, sometimes in his sleep is that normal?
he alwso has a cogh and sneezes in my house and on the grass, maybye keenel cough?

well reverse sneezing is just sneezing that is common in small breeds. I have a rescue pom that does it daily. The only thing you can do for your dog is to put your finger over the nostrils and make him breath through the mouth (be sure to be careful not to suffocate) and gently massage his neck/throat.

the cough could be bronchitis or kennel cough, they can be treated by your vet. Good luck

Brand of Dog Food at Save-A-Lot Apart of Massive Dog Food Recall?

Hello, I am extremely worried right now because I have been feeding both of my dogs a particular brand of dog food from Save-A-Lot Discount stores, and according to the Menu Foods website, certain brands of Save-A-Lot dog food are apart of the massive recall of dog and cat food. The particular dog food that I buy, I don’t know it’s exact name, but it comes in a can with red labels with blue writing. Does anyone know the exact name of this brand is? It’s not the chunky bits with gravy stuff or lamb and rice stuff, it’s more like light brown (similar to spam in texture). Both of my dogs are fine right now, I don’t see any abnormal behavior but I am still very worried.

Bad Pet Food

i have a 1lb teacup poodle puppy, and need to know how much food he should be eating?

Since the commercial dog food scare, i have decided to put all three of my dogs on a homemade diet. I have spoken to my vet about ingredients and vitamins and such…but there must be an equation that i can use to feed him. The other dogs are adults, and they will eat until they are full, but the teacup puppy seems to be extremely hungry all the time. Can anyone tell me how much to feed him?
i realize that “teacup” is not a recognized size…it was to explain how small he is right now…he is only 10 wks old and will grow to be about 5-6 lbs. i wonder if anyone knows some kind of guideline for the size of his meals….ie: maybe 3oz a day?…..because he is so tiny right now, i worry that i am not feeding him enough.
***and i don’t think i got “taken” when i bought him….i paid the going rate for dogs of this breed and he is a sweet loving little “teacup” size puppy.***

Try starting with around 2 to 3% of your dogs bodyweight (more for pups – up to about 10% for them) and adjusting from there. It is not an exact science and every dog is different so be prepared to adjust as you go along. Not getting it quite right is not really a problem as long as you accompany this with observation of your dog so you can watch for changes (losing/gaining weight).

However, I was looking up the protein and fat requirements for his age and it appears that pedigree only has 11% of the recommended 17% fat…it does meet the requirements of 27-28% crude protein…. We looked at IAMs, but I have heard that P&G (the makers of IAMs) continue to endorse and use animal testing…so I am not comfortable buying it….
