what is the absolute best dog food brand for a pug?

I have heard so many conflicting reports. Some say Eukanuba, some say Royal Canin, others Nutro, Scinence Diet and many many others…… I am confused!!
Does anyone know who makes the most natural and nutritious food, and if so, why do you feel your preferred brand outweighs the other brands?

None of the foods you mentioned in your question are natural or nutritious. I prefer Natura brand foods: Innova, California Natural, Healthwise, and Karma. Karma is 95% organic-about as natural as you can get. Some other good foods are Solid Gold, Merrick, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul, Prairie, Castor & Pollux, and Wellness Super5Mix. Nutro has made MANY dogs sick-many owners claim it has killed their dogs. I have nothing good to say about any of the others mentioned in your question, either-I have fed all of them over the years, and was not impressed with any of them at all. Those foods are also more expensive to feed than the higher quality foods, as you need to feed so much more Science Diet or Nutro than something like California Naturals.

For a Pug, I would feed either California Naturals or Natural Balance. Pugs are prone to allergies, and either of these foods are designed to avoid food allergens.

try dogfoodanalysis.com. Check out all the diff. types of food. You want to stick with something in the 4-6 star range. I personally feed Canidae ALS. You dont want anything with wheat or corn… those are hard ingredients to digest. Also NO by-products..(everything but feathers basically…EWWW)

Temperament: The Irish Wolfhound is known for its sweet temper and is a very intelligent, thoughtful dog. This breed is willing and eager to please with a wholehearted loyalty to their family. They are slow to mature and have a clumsy nature, taking around two years before they are fully grown. This breed needs good, high-quality, food as they grow rapidly. Hard exercise should be avoided in the puppy, although they still need to have good daily walks. Basic training such as lead work needs to be carried out while the puppy is young and not having reached full strength. This dog is easy to train, and responds well to confident, gentle leadership.
